National Assembly Committee on Health commends Gov Yusuf for strengthening healthcare delivery

The National Assembly House Committee on Health has commended the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.
The commendation was delivered by the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon. Amos Gwabna Magaji, during the Committee’s oversight visit to the Giginyu Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Kano.
Governor Yusuf was represented at the event by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, who welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to accessible and quality healthcare for all Kano residents.
Dr. Yusuf highlighted that the administration has established Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) centres across all 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State as part of deliberate measures to combat malnutrition and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Hon. Magaji, while commending the state’s healthcare reforms, also praised the government for the successful accreditation of some Primary Healthcare Centres to the next level of care, describing it as a bold step toward achieving universal health coverage and expanding access to advanced health services.
The lawmakers were taken round the facility by the Director General, Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Prof. Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, and the Executive Secretary, Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, who briefed the Committee on the state’s progress in primary healthcare service delivery and insurance coverage.
On behalf of Governor Yusuf, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Committee for its recognition and assured that the state government will continue to collaborate with federal authorities and development partners to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly at the grassroots level.
The visit underscored the importance of synergy between federal and state governments in improving healthcare outcomes and ensuring quality services for Nigerians.
