APC secures landslide victory in Remo Federal Constituency bye-election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a resounding victory in the Remo Federal Constituency bye election, won all three local government areas with a wide margin over its closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the official results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday night, the APC polled a total of 41,237 votes across Ikenne, Remo North, and Sagamu Local Government Areas, while the PDP trailed far behind with 14,324 votes.

In Ikenne Local Government Area, the home base of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the APC garnered 10,227 votes, defeating the PDP, which managed 5,595 votes.

In Remo North Local Government Area, the APC extended its dominance, securing 8,052 votes, while the PDP scored just 992 votes. Two other parties, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Action Democratic Party (ADP), got 37 votes and 43 votes respectively.

The APC’s strongest performance came from Sagamu Local Government Area, where it amassed an impressive 22,958 votes, leaving the PDP with 7,737 votes.

With the combined figures, the APC emerged the clear winner, sweeping the bye-election with a comfortable margin of 26,913 votes over the PDP.

The election was conducted to fill the vacant Remo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, with reports of disruptions in some polling units.

The victory further consolidates the APC’s influence in Ogun State, particularly in the Remo axis, considered a stronghold of the ruling party.
