The 2001 set of Geology Department alumni of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, led by their President, Fadekemi Longe, honoured two outstanding lecturers of the Department. The lecturers were Prof. O. L Ademilua and Prof. O. F Adebayo.
The President of the Set, in her reminiscence, related how the two Professors impacted their lives positively and related with them as if the lecturers were their parents. She further conveyed the goodwill of the 2001 Set and pledged their continuous support and assistance to the Department. Cash and other gifts were presented to the two Professors.
In his response, Professor Ademilua, speaking on behalf of his colleague, thanked the 2001 Set for recognizing the positive impact on them by himself and his colleague after a period of twenty four years. In his words ‘we are filled with joy and gratitude to God that our good deeds of over two decades are being recognized and appreciated’. Professor Adebayo also prayed for more uplifting for every member of the Set and encouraged them not to forget their alma mater.
The head of Department Professor A. O. Aturamu who is also an alumnus, thanked the alumni group for the laudable feat and encouraged them ‘to come over to Macedonia and help’. Aturamu congratulated the recipients and thanked them for their leadership role in the Department while charging other members of staff of the Department to emulate their senior colleagues. Prayers were said for the 2001 Set, the University management, Geology Department and the University at large.
The ceremony was attended by members of staff of Geology Department and the students.
