The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Ports and Terminals Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command has witnessed a leadership transition following the formal handover by the immediate past Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Joe Anani, to Deputy Controller of Customs (DC) Nura Miko, who now assumes office in an acting capacity.
The handover ceremony, held on Monday at the PTML Command headquarters in Lagos, marked the official transfer of authority as Comptroller Anani proceeds to his new assignment as Customs Area Controller at the Tin Can Island Port Command.
Speaking during the ceremony, Comptroller Anani described the transition as seamless and expressed confidence in the ability of DC Miko to sustain the command’s operational standards. He described his successor as an experienced and professional officer, assuring him of continued support and collaboration whenever necessary.
Anani also noted that the close proximity between PTML and Tin Can Island Port Commands would enhance coordination on customs procedures and port operations.
Reflecting on his eight-month tenure at PTML, the outgoing controller highlighted achievements recorded in revenue generation and trade facilitation, expressing optimism that the command would consolidate on the gains already made.
In his remarks, DC Nura Miko commended Comptroller Anani for his leadership and professionalism, pledging to uphold the standards established during his predecessor’s tenure.
He said the command under his watch would continue to prioritise trade facilitation while maintaining strict compliance with due process and professionalism.
Miko further stressed the importance of teamwork, noting that officers and men of the command, alongside other government agencies operating at the port, would work collectively to improve operational efficiency and enhance the command’s performance.
He also appreciated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for the confidence reposed in him through the acting appointment.
The ceremony was attended by senior customs officers and key stakeholders in the maritime sector, underscoring the Service’s commitment to leadership continuity and operational efficiency across strategic port commands.
