Nigeria’s Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposed 2026 national budget, describing it as a people-centred plan that prioritizes security and road infrastructure amid mounting economic and social challenges.
In a statement released on Friday, Goronyo said the administration’s heavy allocation to security underscores the president’s commitment to protecting lives and property, arguing that development cannot thrive without safety and stability.
“Improved security is fundamental to economic growth,” the minister said, noting that safer communities would encourage investment, expand business activity, and strengthen national cohesion.
Goronyo also highlighted the budget’s strong emphasis on road infrastructure, praising sustained funding for the construction, rehabilitation, and completion of federal highways across the country. According to him, better roads will reduce travel time, lower vehicle operating costs, and improve access to markets and essential services.
The minister said the combined focus on security, infrastructure, and broader economic reforms reflects an integrated approach to easing the hardship faced by many Nigerians. He pointed to fiscal discipline, education, health, and human capital development as complementary priorities that could help create jobs and stimulate long-term growth.
“These measures, taken together, have the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for Nigerians,” Goronyo said.
He assured the public that the Federal Ministry of Works is fully committed to implementing all road projects approved under the 2026 budget, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Goronyo also called on stakeholders across government and the private sector to support timely project delivery nationwide.
The statement was issued by Abdullahi A. Mohammed, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of State for Works, and dated December 20, 2025.
