The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bahago Services Limited, Engr. Saidu Hassan, has been honored with the Engineering Excellence Award by the Citizenship Orientation and Good Governance Advocacy (COGGA) in recognition of his contributions to engineering and national development.
The award was presented on Friday in Abuja, celebrating Engr. Hassan’s impact in civil engineering, water resources development, and procurement services. Bahago Services Limited is widely known for its role in infrastructure delivery, particularly in road construction and related projects across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Director of COGGA, Dr. Christopher Yusuf Akut, said the awardee emerged after a rigorous selection process among professional engineers nationwide. According to him, Engr. Hassan’s dedication to road infrastructural development and his commitment to mentoring young engineers set him apart.
Dr. Akut also highlighted Engr. Hassan’s leadership as an entrepreneurial CEO and his service as the immediate past National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers, describing his contributions as both impactful and enduring.
“This award is a testament to the exceptional work of engineers who push the boundaries of innovation and excellence,” Dr. Akut said. “The Engineering Excellence Award celebrates the power of innovation and collaboration, while inspiring future generations of engineers to strive for greatness.”
He added that one of COGGA’s core mandates is to identify and honor patriotic Nigerians who have demonstrated selfless service and contributed meaningfully to the nation’s growth and development. The organization, he said, remains committed to promoting civic responsibility, national cohesion, and good governance through education, dialogue, and community engagement.
In his acceptance remarks, Engr. Saidu Hassan expressed gratitude to COGGA for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to national development and democratic values.
“I am grateful for this honor and remain committed to contributing my quota toward building a better society,” he said. “We have a collective responsibility to transform our country.”
Engr. Hassan described the award as a reminder that engineering goes beyond solving problems to creating solutions that improve lives and shape the future.
“I believe engineering has the power to make a positive impact on society, and I am committed to continuing this work,” he added.
The event brought together professionals, civil society leaders, and stakeholders, underscoring the growing recognition of engineering as a critical driver of sustainable development in Nigeria.
