Youth/Community Leader, Ihesiaba Chinenye, Reportedly flees country after his family was attacked
A prominent youth leader and community activist from, Obuzor Village In Uratta Ancient Kingdom In Osisioma Ngwa LGA, ABIA State, 42 years old, identified as Mr. Ihesiaba Chinenye has reportedly fled Nigeria following a series of targeted attacks against Him and his family. Local sources say he was last seen on 3rd March, 2024, before disappearing under circumstances believed to be linked to political tensions and insecurity.
According to individuals close to the case, our Reporter gathered that IHESIABA CHINENYE had faced increasing pressure and threats over his involvement in Youth mobilization activities. In the face of growing insecurity in Nigeria, including banditry, kidnapping, and targeted assassinations, He was forced to flee his Community after surviving Five assassination attempts. His wife and kids are equally in danger list.
He condemned activities such as kidnapping for ransom, organ trafficking, and ritual killings, which he alleges are being carried out by powerful individuals. His stance has made him a target of unknown gunmen and criminal elements who have already made five unsuccessful attempts on his life.
Fleeing for his safety after these attempts, MR.IHESIABA CHINENYE escaped his attackers. HIS situation remains dire, sparking widespread concern for HIS safety.
Local sources indicate that the criminal gang, enraged by their failure to eliminate IHESIABA, determined to target his wife and Children as retribution. His family members allege that unidentified men targeted their home multiple times, Burnt down his family house.
“Things started getting worse in 2024,” one source claimed. “He was very active in advocating for the rights of his people,as a vocal critic of the exploitation of his people by various criminal groups and government agents. Those criminal gangs/groups saw him as a threat, and that was when the intimidation and problems started.” as target of unknown Gun men and criminal elements he was exposing and then marked him for total elimination.
Human rights organizations are calling for an investigation into the case and for better protection for those who speak out on behalf of their communities.
As passionate appeal, authorities that may have him in possession should kindly grant him protection as his deportation and return will certainly end his life or face severe persecution.
