Gov Idris constitutes committee on inspection of infrastructural damages caused by flood

The Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the constitution of a high-powered committee to inspect and assess infrastructural damages across the state occasioned by recent floods.

The Committee, chaired by the Hon. Commissioner of Works, Hon Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruq (Muslim) is mandated to visit all affected sites, provide verifiable evidence of the extent of damage, and make recommendations for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected facilities.

Other members of the Committee include:
Hon. Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, Commissioner of Special Duties, Alhaji Zaiyanu Aliero, Special Adviser on Due Process, Alhaji Sirajo Garba Bagudo, Special Adviser on Power/Politics, Alhaji Kabiru Sani (Giant), Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Arch Saad Sakaba, Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Bello Yakubu (Rilisco), and Director, Civil Engineering Department, Ministry of Works, Alhaji Sahabi Muhammad Tilli (to serve as Secretary).

The terms of reference of the Committee include:
1. Visiting affected sites to document the extent of devastation caused by flooding.
2. Providing cost estimates for rehabilitation and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.
3. Identifying vulnerable areas that may require proactive measures and
4. Suggesting strategies to avert future occurrences.

The Governor has directed the Committee to submit its report within one week for immediate government action.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and public infrastructure, noting that proactive steps are being taken to mitigate the impact of flooding in Kebbi State.
