The Lagos State Government has called on property owners to give their buildings a facelift to enhance the state’s aesthetics.
The appeal was made by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, during a press briefing in Alausa.
Dr. Olumide emphasized the importance of regular maintenance and renewal of buildings, particularly those along highways and major roads.
He urged property owners to adopt a culture of repainting, façade repairs, and general touch-ups to give their buildings a modern look.
The Commissioner stated that this initiative aligns with the state’s vision for a Greater Lagos and the T.H.E.M.E.S. + Agenda.
He encouraged property owners to take ownership of their properties and contribute to the state’s development by maintaining and enhancing their buildings.
The initiative aims to beautify the state’s urban landscape, attract investment and tourism, improve the quality of life for residents, and create a positive image of Lagos State.
When property owners respond to this call, the state is likely to experience a significant transformation in its urban environment, making it more attractive and livable for residents and visitors alike.
“We implore property owners, especially those with buildings on major highways such as Ikorodu Road, Agege Motorway, Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku Street, Lagos-Abeokuta Motorway, Herbert Macaulay Way, and Murtala Muhammed Way, among others, to take cultivate this habit and undertake the much-needed face-lift of their building facade and thereby support the ‘Making Lagos A 21st Century Economy’ vision of the State Government,” he said
