The Ogun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has apprehended a suspect in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred over the weekend, along Itorin before Ososa Junction in the Odogbolu local government area of Ogun State.

The 25 years old suspected armed robber, Mr Igwe Chijioke, who hails from Ebonyi State in the Eastern part of the country, was part of a group of armed robbers who attacked a motorcyclist and a passenger, brutally hacking the motorcyclist, Mr Tosin Olawoyin aka ‘O n ta Rug’, with machete and axe on this head.

The operation, which was launched by the Amotekun Corps operatives from Base 5 in Odogbolu local government, was in a swift reaction to a distress call received from a tipper driver on the brutal robbery which left the motorcyclist in his pool of blood and his motorcycle stolen.

Finding a grim sight of the motorcyclist, with the serious injuries inflicted on him after being attacked at the scene, Amotekun operatives swiftly went after the armed robbers. They apprehended the suspect while he was attempting to flee with the stolen motorcycle.

In his confession during interrogation, the suspect admitted to both the theft of the motorcycle and the assault on the motorcyclist and passenger, as perpetrated by him and three other fleeing suspects. The recovered motorcycle and the suspect have been handed over to the police and are currently in their custody for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The victim was promptly rushed to Oore-Ofe El-Shadai Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, where he was revived and still responding well to treatment.

The Amotekun Corps urge anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects to come forward and assist the Police in their investigation.

We reassure the public that the Amotekun Corps remains committed to maintaining peace and security in Ogun State, as we continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our State remains safe for all residents and visitors.
