The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed four industries in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area for violating state environmental laws.
The affected companies are Aristocrate Industries Limited, Plenco Industries Limited, Nanfang Industrial Limited, and Xinphang Plastic Limited.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and head of OGEPA, Hon. Farouk Akintunde, disclosed this during an interview with journalists in his office in Abeokuta.
Hon. Akintunde said Nanfang Industrial Limited and Plenco Industries Limited were shut down for failing to install an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), leading to the discharge of untreated wastewater into the environment, a practice he described as hazardous to public health.
He added that Xinphang Plastic Limited, which recycles plastics, and Aristocrate Industries Limited, a manufacturer of flexible packaging materials, were sealed for operating without the necessary government approvals and for denying OGEPA officials access to their facilities.
Hon. Akintunde expressed concern over the non-compliance of the affected companies, warning that such practices pose serious risks to the health of residents and the environment.
