Benin City: ‘I do not know whereabouts of the family under my care’ –cleric tells Police
The Edo State Police Command is investigating the report of a missing family brought to the notice of the state police command by one Rev. Kingsley Ebose, a cleric from the Christ Chosen Church of God International.
The cleric has reported the case of a missing family to the Edo State Police Command and appealed for investigations to be carried out into determining their whereabouts.
According to the cleric, he has been aiding one Mr Lucky Igbinobaro and his family since 30th of December 2021 after they informed him that they had lost their home and property to series of deadly cult group attacks.
The cult group, known as Black Axe confraternity, once terrorized the area where the family lived, hence they needed a shift in location.
Rev. Ebose also added that this cult group has also invaided his home on three occasions in search of Mr Igbinobaro and his family, and that he had no idea how they got the information about the hideout of Mr Lucky Igbinobaro and his family.
He stated that members of this cult group were deliberate in their search for this family, and they were not willing to give up until they have what they wanted.
The Rev added that he lost his property on one of the series of attacks by this cult group, and has been accused of refusal to reveal the whereabouts of Mr Igbinobaro and his family.
He also stated that he has reported this attacks to the police on several occasions and has cried out to the government and the public for help, but yet this cult group has not been apprehended or brought to book by the authorities.
On the morning of 15th of December 2023, was the last attack by this cult group on his apartment and they came in large group with guns and axes and attempted to kill him but he somehow succeeded in escaping them.
He told the press that on returning back home he couldn’t find mr igbinobaro and his family, and that he his not sure if Mr Igbinobaro and his family were apprehended by the Black Axe cult group or if perhaps they had escaped to seek refuge somewhere else, he couldn’t tell.
The Rev stated that on that evening of 15th December 2023 he went to the police to report the case, and the police has declared Mr Lucky Igbinobaro and his family members missing.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command, through its spokesperson has informed the Press that it is investigating and looking for members of this cult group.
The Police further stated that the public should report at the State Police Command if anyone knows the whereabouts of this family or have seen them.
