Fresh troubles for Fred Ejiro Ohwaguono

Police in Delta State, Nigeria under the team led by Inspector Sam Akporugo, recently stormed the residence of one Blessing Ohwaguono, mother of two children and wife of Fred Ejiro Ohwaguono, at No.15, Obodogba, behind Madonna School, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria on the 25th of January 2025.
According to Cyril Osita Agoloh, a neighbor and a friend of Fred Ejiro Ohwaguono, Blessing Ohwaguono and her two children had not been seen in the residence for over 14 months, fueling fears as to what could have happened to them. Fred Ejiro Ohwaguono, one-time Special Assistant to the Governor of Edo State, Nigeria fled Nigeria in 2023 on finding out that his friend, (name withheld) had divulged details of their same sex practices to his uncle, Chief Samuel Ohwaguono. His uncle who had acted as Fred’s mentor and even his political godfather as well, made some demands from Fred, including decamping from the People Democratic Party, PDP, after falling out with the government of Obaseki.
Agoloh believed that his neighbor and friend’s refusal to do the bidding of his uncle is what has come back to hurt him and his family, causing him to flee to Canada and leaving his wife to fend for their two kids alone. At the of this report, Blessing Ohwaguono could not be reached for comment, but Agoloh fears so greatly for the safety of Blessing Ohwaguono and her children and hopes that the Canadian government would find Fred Ohwaguono deserving of protection in Canada as a refugee.
Police visit to residences of fleeing Nigerians accused of same sex practices in Nigeria is gradually acquiring a status that is inefficient, belated and misdirected at innocent family members of persons of the category of sexual orientation.
The anti-Same Sex Offence law in Nigeria is still in force and any person convicted of the offence is liable to a term of 14 years in prison.
