Court remands two friends for allegedly threatening to deal with a politician
A Shari’a Court sitting in Kano on Thursday ordered that two men be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly threatening to deal with a politician.
The police charged Salisu Ibrahim, and Izzadin Ahmed, who reside in Gwammaja Quarters in Kano with three counts of criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation and mischief.
The presiding judge, Malam Nura Yusuf-Ahmad, adjourned the matter until Oct. 17.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Aliyu Abideen informed the court that the defendants committed the offence on Sept.12 at Gwammaja Quarters, Kano.
He alleged that at about 10 p.m. the defendants conspired and went to the house of Alhaji Yahaya Garin-Ali, a politician and threatened to deal with him.
The defendants, he said, also stoned and destroyed the glass window of the complainant’s house.
The first defendant, Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the charge, adding that the politician refused to fulfil the promises he made to him.
The second defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 120, 227 and 363 of Kano State Shari’a Law.
