Zamfara State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, made an unannounced inspection of Gusau General Hospital and expressed serious disappointment over the absence of doctors.

During her surprise visit, which was aimed at monitoring staff attendance and commitment, Dr. Maradun found that no doctors were on duty.

She stated that the state government will not tolerate such absenteeism, emphasizing that the lives of citizens depend on timely and quality healthcare.

“If you are not ready to work, then you should go. The Zamfara State Government will not tolerate absenteeism, especially in our hospitals,” Dr. Maradun said.

The Commissioner commended the nurses and other staff who were present for their dedication.

She also highlighted the significant investments made by Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration in renovating and equipping hospitals with modern medical facilities.

In addition to the staff issue, Dr. Maradun was displeased with the overall sanitation of the hospital.

She vowed that her ministry would increase monitoring and supervisory visits to ensure accountability, discipline, and improved healthcare services across Zamfara State.

During the visit, Dr. Maradun inspected key units, including the Accident and Emergency Unit, the Labour Room, and the Pediatric Emergency Ward.
