Nasarawa State Police Command said it has commenced manhunt for suspected kidnappers who abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia.
In a Statement from the Office of the Command Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, the Police said on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at about 9.20 PM the Command received a distress call from the Chief Security Officer of the Federal University of Lafia, reporting that three students residing at Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the students residential community was abducted by unidentified armed persons.
According to the Statement, upon receipt of the report, the State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately directed the deployment of tactical teams, patrol operatives and other security personnel to the area to launch a coordinated search and rescue operation within the surrounding forest.
The Statement stated further that the prompt response of the police has already led to the successful rescue of one of the abducted students.
It said efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining two victims who are still in captivity and to arrest the perpetrators to account for their evil deed.
The Commissioner of Police, according to the Statement has further directed all operational and intelligence assets of the Command to sustain the ongoing operation until the remaining victims are rescued safely.
He called on residents of the State to remain calm, vigilant and continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
