The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its official timetable for the 2026 primary elections, setting the stage for the selection of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also announcing a structured fee regime for nomination forms across all elective positions.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party emphasized its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and strict adherence to the Electoral Act and party constitution.
According to the timetable, the process is already underway. The collection of application forms began on April 1 and will close on May 4, 2026.
The sale of nomination forms is scheduled for May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 11 and May 13.
Screening of aspirants is slated for May 14 and May 15, with results to be published on May 17.
Appeals will follow from May 18 to May 19, and the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.
Primary elections will commence on May 21, with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats holding simultaneously at the ward level.
Governorship primaries are fixed for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.
The process will culminate in a National Executive Committee meeting on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27, where final ratifications are expected.
The party also announced the cost of nomination forms, pegging the presidential form at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, Senate at N20 million, House of Representatives at N10 million, and State House of Assembly at N3 million.
In a bid to promote inclusivity, the ADC introduced concessions, offering a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The party called on aspirants and stakeholders to comply fully with the outlined guidelines, positioning itself as a platform for credible leadership as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections.
