The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to former Deputy Governor of the state, His Excellency, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru, to support the party’s ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at strengthening unity following the recently concluded primary elections.
The appeal was made during a courtesy visit by members of the State Working Committee (SWC), led by the State Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, to the elder statesman’s residence in Akure on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Otunba Muyide Adeyeluwa ,Oluwateru was described as a highly respected leader and accomplished politician with immense experience, Hon. Kolawole emphasized that the party values his wisdom, counsel, and commitment to the progressive family. He also urged him to continue supporting the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the APC’s collective vision for the development of Ondo State.
“We are delighted to have Your Excellency in our great party at this critical period. The APC in Ondo State and the Aiyedatiwa administration stand to benefit immensely from your wealth of experience, leadership, and fatherly guidance.
“You have continued to support the party in various capacities, and we are here to encourage you to do even more as we work together to advance the progress and prosperity of our dear state,” the chairman stated.
Hon. Kolawole acknowledged that disagreements often arise after party primaries in every democratic system, noting that this informed the establishment of a reconciliation committee to engage aggrieved members, address legitimate concerns, and foster lasting peace and cohesion before the general elections.
He appealed to the former deputy governor to deploy his influence and political experience in reaching out to party members and stakeholders to strengthen unity and ensure that the APC remains formidable ahead of the 2027 elections.
Responding, Otunba Oluwateru commended the party leadership for taking proactive steps to preserve internal harmony through the reconciliation committee, describing the initiative as timely and commendable.
The former deputy governor, who served under the administration of the late Dr. Olusegun Agagu, reiterated that his decision to join the APC was driven by his desire to contribute to the re-election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and to support the continued progress of Ondo State under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
According to him, “It is imperative that we unite all members of our great party ahead of the general elections so that we can deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ondo State.”
Declaring his unwavering loyalty to the party, Otunba Oluwateru said, “I am an institutional man and a committed party faithful. My loyalty to the leadership and hierarchy of the APC remains unquestionable.”
He further affirmed that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains the undisputed leader of the APC in Ondo State and urged all members to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions.
“My appeal is that we should bring everyone together. I am fully prepared to support the reconciliation process and every effort aimed at strengthening our party. You can count on my total commitment.
