A total of ₦1.1 million was disbursed to 11 students as educational support in a gesture that formed part of activities marking the 62nd birthday celebration of Umo Bassey Eno.

The intervention, facilitated by Umontuen, saw each beneficiary receive ₦100,000, with students drawn from the four clans of Onna Local Government Area.

The event, held in Onna local government area of the state brought together political stakeholders, youth groups, and community members in what observers described as a blend of celebration and grassroots empowerment.

Although nine of the beneficiaries were physically present, the organiser ensured that the remaining two students received their funds electronically, underscoring what participants described as an inclusive approach.

Speaking at the occasion, Umontuen said the gesture was inspired by the developmental strides recorded under Governor Eno, particularly in Onna, citing road projects and investments in education and healthcare.

“We are here to celebrate a man who has done Onna good,” he said, adding that supporting students aligns with efforts to sustain long-term development through education.

The beneficiaries, selected based on need and academic potential, were encouraged to pursue their studies with commitment and discipline.

Chairman of the God Wins 2027 Campaign Organisation, Samuel Mboso, led prayers for the governor, while other speakers commended the initiative as a meaningful way to celebrate leadership through impact.

Also speaking, Itiat Itiat, who delivered a toast, described the governor’s leadership as one that continues to inspire hope and development across communities.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Roland Uttah expressed appreciation for the financial support, noting that such interventions would ease the burden on students and motivate them to excel academically.

The event featured goodwill messages, prayers, and social activities, as participants reflected on Governor Eno’s leadership at 62, with emphasis on infrastructure development and human capital investment.

Observers say the initiative highlights a growing trend where public celebrations are increasingly tied to community-focused interventions, particularly in education and youth empowerment.
