Presidency debunks reports of Gbajabiamila’s replacement as Chief of Staff

The Presidency has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Presidency clarified that there has been no change in the position of Chief of Staff and described the viral claim as a deliberate fabrication.

According to the statement, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, also continues in his current role. It stressed that Muri-Okunola has not replaced Gbajabiamila, contrary to the rumours being widely shared online.

The Presidency accused “mischievous purveyors of fake news” of originating the false report, noting that their intention was to create confusion and disharmony within the government.

It further urged Nigerians to disregard the claim in its entirety and advised members of the media and the public to always verify information before publishing or sharing it on social media.

The statement was signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
