As part of the ongoing tour of local government areas led by the NUJ Sokoto Council Chairman, Usman Muhammad Binji, the team today visited Dange-Shuni and Bodinga Local Government Areas.
In both areas, the state government is focusing on key sectors such as healthcare, water, and education — which are proving to be game-changers for the communities.
The government is upgrading multiple Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) in Dange-Shuni and Bodinga, ensuring better medical facilities and services. This initiative is expected to significantly improve healthcare access and quality.
Solar-powered boreholes in Dange-Shuni and Bodinga are providing clean water, empowering women-led businesses, and improving overall living conditions.
In terms of education and community development, the state government has embarked on the renovation of mosques and Islamiyya schools, thereby enhancing educational and communal spaces and fostering a more conducive environment for learning and worship.
Under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu, the Sokoto State Government remains committed to making healthcare more accessible, efficient, and sustainable in line with the SMART agenda. The administration also places strong emphasis on transparency and community participation.
Residents of Dange-Shuni and Bodinga are already feeling the positive impact and enjoying the dividends of democracy.
The Council Chairmen of Dange-Shuni, Aminu Magaji Bodai, and Bodinga, Muhammad Shehu Dingyadi (represented by his vice chairman), along with traditional institutions and community members, commended the state government for its efforts and promised to utilize the projects as intended.
However, they also appealed for more resources to execute additional community-oriented projects in their areas.
