The Sokoto State Government has taken a significant step to enhance the welfare of its citizens by approving a budget virement of ₦38.8 billion within the existing ₦526 billion 2025 budget.
This strategic decision aims to support key infrastructure projects, essential services, and operational efficiency—without increasing the overall budget size.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Iya, disclosed this shortly after the State Executive Council meeting. He explained that the virement would fund several critical infrastructure projects, including:
Construction of a workshop for the Sokoto State Transport Authority and maintenance of state-owned transport vehicles.
Procurement of 15,000 tables and chairs for basic and secondary schools, benefiting about 1,000 classrooms with 45 students each.
Purchase of operational vehicles for the Ministry of Finance.
These initiatives are expected to enhance the learning environment, improve the quality of education, strengthen infrastructure, and promote better service delivery across the state.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving infrastructure, education, and essential services, thereby positively impacting the lives of Sokoto residents and contributing to the state’s overall development.
