Hon Friday Ogbuewu”s scholarship awards put over 40 students on high parade

The Member representing Ezza South State Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Ogbuewu, has continued the disbursement of scholarship awards to students in his Constituency, which numbered over forty students.

Hon Friday Ogbuewu said that the scholarship program, which he started when he was a school teacher, was aimed at complementing the educational efforts of the State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, and, more importantly, to make up his personal desire to improve the living standard of the people.

The lawmaker said that investment in the education sector outlives a generation, adding that he has decided to continue with the program as long as possible but, however, cautioned beneficiaries against slack in educational pursuits as this may lead to their disqualification and withdrawal.

Hon Ogbuewu thanked the State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, for providing him the opportunity to effect changes in human lives, adding that as a man raised in a poor background, he knew how expensive education is and how devastating ignoring attainment of it are.

Speaking also, the chairman of the occasion and the secretary of Ebonyi State Universal Education Board, Dr Livinus Ezeuwa, described Hon Ogbuewu as an exceptional leader whose interactions with people made him feel their pains of wants.

He commended him for the laudable gesture, most importantly at this tough time, and therefore advised the students to justify the gesture.

Contributing, are the colleagues of the facilitator of the program and member representing Ebonyi North East, Hon Mr. Chinyere Nwogbaga, Member representing Onicha West Hon Charles Nkwo Emezie, and member representing Abakaliki North Hon Victor Nwoke said that the program initiated by Hon Friday Ogbuewu was a good partner to the educational development of the state and described him as a human being developer whose contribution towards the development of the state shall be remembered for a long time.

Also Contributing, the commissioner for Commerce and Industry Hon Oguzor Offia Nwali, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Hon Chidi Onyia, the Senior Special Assistant to State Governor on Power and Energy Hon Chinedu Awo, the SSA to Governor on Petroleum Mr. Nnaemeka Nwafor and SA on Student Affairs Comrade Joshua Nwafor all commended Hon Ogbuewu for his disposition to his constituents and called on other leaders to emulate him while the beneficiaries and students of the Constituency were advised to take their studies more seriously.

The Coordinator of Ezza South East Development Center Hon Chita Moses Uchenna and his counterpart from Ezza East Hon Mrs. Vivian Ogbuewu, the leader of Ezza South legislative Council Hon Francis Nwali, the President of Izzo autonomous Community Mr. Ikechukwu Ojogu, and the APC Chairman in Ezza South LGA Mr. Chukwuemeka Uwa all appreciated the kind gesture of Hon Ogbuewu and thanked him for replicating the educational policies of Governor Nwifuru in his Constituency.

Others who spoke include the Traditional Ruler of Umunwagu Idembia HRH Eze Alexander Uhuo, the former Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area Chief Stephen Akochi, the General Manager of Legacy FM Mr Godfrey Chikwere, the former treasurer Ezza South Chief Christopher Nworie and Mr Okeh Christopher all praised Hon Ogbuewu for making the Constituency proud.

Out of the beneficiaries that benefitted from the scholarship awards, the physically challenged Me Samuel Egwu of Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu and Miss Chioma Igwe of the Ebonyi State University EBSU, on behalf of all other beneficiaries, thanked the lawmaker for giving them hope and assured that the award will spur them into greater commitment.
