Gov’s wife, BERWO, NNPC foundation, offered 1,000 free cataract extraction surgery

Ebonyi State first lady, the founder and CEO of Better Health for rural women Children and internally displaced persons foundation (BERWO) Chief Mrs Mary-maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru has collaborate Ministry of Health, NNPC for free cataract screening surgery for Ebonyians.
The wife of the Governor, who representated by prof. Nkechi Emma Echiegu, Said this program is the with the help of NNPC foundation, to screen and operate people with this Cataract conditions to be screened operated for clear Visions.
Blindness can be avoided, don’t let cataract hold you back, reclaim your vision today with this opportunity. I urged everybody to stay calmed as the screening is ongoing, make sure u are screened and don’t join the people who are selected for the surgery, take advantage of this program and regain your freedom Prof Echiegu lamented.
Since u are screened and u are screened out that u don’t have cataract, please go home and know well that u don’t have cataract at all and believe in yourselfs
Prof. Mrs Echiegu continue to narrated that, “We are here today because we are having free medical outreach for the surgery of free eye cataract, I don’t know what is happening in other states, but if Ebonyians are up to 500 hundred and all benefited that will be a great privellage to the people of the state.
Ebonyi always take first in any given opportunities because about one hundred and seventy eight (178) any pregnant women and more were given free medical attention through Better Health for rural women Children and internally displaced persons BERWO,many hynia surgery and uncountable free medical attentios through BERWO foundation. We have achieved alots of health outreach in the State because ones any important program is annoced here in Ebonyi State we took it very serious and we do it well for the benefits of our people, prof. Lamented.
It is commencing in three stages as Ebonyi own started today 1st day of April, 2025 here in General Hospital Elinwovu, Abakalik LGA of Ebonyi. It will go round in other states, but Ebonyi State happened to be the first state to start with which means that Ebonyi State is taking first in all we do.
The general coordinator free cataract Extraction Surgery NNPC foundation Dr Ann Amugo said this kind of free intervention is something very important to people to benefits. Her Excellence foundation BERWO is specially partnering with us, this is a program that will help many who could not afford to hospital to benefits and regain their sight. It’s covered the whole Southeast.
In remarked the special Assistant to the Governor on primary Health Dr Sylbinus Nwibo Odinakachukwu, addressed the people in a local dialect in other for them to understand the meaning of cataract screening and surgery. This is very commendable for NNPC to bring out this beautiful exercise, it is a great privellage to clear and restore this eye vision.
In interview one Chief Emmanuel Nwiboko and Mrs Nwakaego Ajah from Izzi LGA beneficiars said, they suffered cataract since 2003 which has been disturbing them as a result of financial lacked, but they has never seen this types of health and the work the wife of the Governor is doing in the state. They expressed their joy as the were opportune to benefits freely to gain the freedom.
Dr Nwede Augustine, the Dr in charge of the general hospital Commended the efforts of NNPC foundation and that of our BERWO foundation, people are seriously suffering, because things are very expressive for them to pay for hospital bills, but they has achieved this today without any payment. He Commended the Governor and the state ministry of health commissioner, BERWO foundation.
The States involved in this free cataract Extraction Surgery program are Ebonyi,Abia, Anambra and Imo state.
