Chelsea crush Wrexham’s Hollywood dream in dramatic FA Cup escape

Chelsea FC twice clawed their way back from the brink to shatter Wrexham AFC’s Hollywood-scripted FA Cup dream, eventually winning 4-2 after extra time in a pulsating clash at the Racecourse Ground.

Backed by celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham stunned the Premier League giants twice through Sam Smith and Callum Doyle, pushing the visitors to the edge.

But the drama turned cruel when George Dobson’s stoppage-time red card left the hosts exposed, allowing Alejandro Garnacho and João Pedro to punish the 10-man side in extra time.

Despite Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior fielding a heavily rotated lineup, the Club World Cup champions ultimately survived a major upset attempt from Phil Parkinson’s fearless team.
