Niger Delta Sports Festival to Host 3,000 Athletes

At least 3,000 young athletes, aged 16 to 25, are set to compete in the inaugural Niger Delta Sports Festival, scheduled to take place from April 1 to 9, 2025, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

During a media briefing on Saturday at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, the festival’s Project Consultant, Itiako Ikpokpo, highlighted that the event backed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), aims to identify and nurture emerging sports talents from the region.

Ikpokpo further emphasized that participation is exclusively for individuals who are either native to the nine states that make up the Niger Delta or have ancestral ties through their parents
