Man Discovers Fiancée in Alleged Same-Sex Affair, Files Police Report

A planned surprise birthday celebration took a shocking turn for Peter Guobadia when he allegedly caught his fiancée, Akhere Indi Igah, in an intimate encounter with her best friend, Zainab Busari.
Peter, who had intended to surprise Akhere on her 32nd birthday, had entered her home early that morning with the help of her security guard. His plan was to prepare a special breakfast to mark the occasion. However, upon entering her bedroom, he claims to have found Akhere and Zainab engaged in a sexual act.
According to Peter, Akhere had previously refused to be intimate with him, insisting she would wait until their wedding night. Seeing her in an alleged same-sex relationship left him devastated. In a moment of shock, he recorded the scene and confronted the women, threatening to report them to the police.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. She claimed to be a Christian woman waiting for marriage, yet here she was with another woman,” Peter said.
He further stated that both women begged him not to report them. However, he proceeded to file a complaint with the police, presenting photos and videos as evidence. When officers arrived at the residence, the two women were nowhere to be found. Peter believes they have since gone into hiding.
A visit by reporters to Akhere’s home in Lagos yielded no response, and efforts to reach her and Zainab have been unsuccessful. Authorities are now reportedly searching for them.
Under Nigerian law, same-sex relationships are criminalized. The Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA) outlaws all forms of same-sex unions, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison. In certain northern states that operate under Sharia law, the punishment for same-sex activity can include death by stoning.
Reports indicate that Akhere and Zainab may have fled abroad. Authorities urge anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact law enforcement.
