Imo PCRC challenges Police on professionalism, rules of engagement

The Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Imo State Command, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere has challenged police officers to carry out their responsibilities professionally.

The PCRC Chairman also called on the commissioner of police, CP. Aboki Danjuma to set up a mechanism to monitor the conduct of officers and ensure they adhere strictly to the rules of engagement.

He made this known during a courtesy call to the commissioner of police, Imo State Command, CP. Aboki Danjuma.

Chukwuyere stressed that PCRC has enormous tasks and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure a smooth relationship between the citizenry and the police.

The PCRC stalwart used the opportunity to congratulate the CP. Danjuma on his recent birthday and called on God to release more wisdom for effective productivity.

He said, ” CP. You have done well; Almighty God will continue to release to you the wisdom of Solomon to police the state effectively and conscientiously.”

According to him, to whom much is given, much is expected, and he appealed to the CP to fish out the bad eggs in the command and melt out the appropriate punishment for offenders.

Chukwuyere explained that public trust is paramount in policing and charged the police personnel to carry out their assignment with due diligence and an ultimate sense of responsibility.

He revealed that the PCRC does not involve itself in criminal charges and investigations but works assiduously to ensure justice, equity, and fair play and prevent the wealthy from taking advantage of the system to lord it over the less privileged.

His words, “We strive to ensure that no innocent person is persecuted using the police as an instrument. We urge the police to ensure that no innocent citizen suffers unduly for offenses they did not commit.”

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, CP Danjuma, commended the PCRC for cementing and fostering a harmonious relationship with the police and the citizenry.

CP. Danjuma emphasized the enormous contributions of the PCRC to the development of the police, such as releasing valuable information for effective service delivery. He highlighted that these bear eloquent testimony to their importance in society.
