MOUAU Matriculates 4,781 fresh students, challenges them to embrace values of honesty

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, MOUAU, has admitted 4661 fresh students for its 2024/2025 academic session and challenges them to embrace the values of honesty, respect, and academic diligence.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, gave this challenge during the 31st matriculation ceremony of the University held over the weekend at the University Pavilion Umudike Umuahia.
He said that their journey here is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about becoming responsible citizens and contributors to a dynamic and progressive society.
“Let your matriculation ceremony mark the beginning of a chapter filled with intellectual curiosity, personal growth, and a commitment to excellence.
“As you embark on this academic journey, remember that success is not solely measured by grades but by the knowledge gained, the skills acquired, and the values instilled. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and let the spirit of curiosity be your guide,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He called on the matriculating students to use the opportunity provided by President Ahmed Tinubu’s administration through NELFUND to apply for loans to finance part of their education.
The Vice-Chancellor equally appealed to lecturers to show more dedication and hard work in shaping the minds of these young minds.
“Let me appeal to you to show patriotism by spending your time doing the work you are employed. Please show enough commitment in your little corners to ensure that the students settle down to business and face their future,” the Vice-Chancellor appealed.
The Vice-Chancellor equally used the occasion to congratulate the matriculating students and challenged them to make use of most of the opportunities that the esteemed institution offers.
“As you wear your academic gowns and take the matriculation oath, remember that you are not just students, you are now part of the community dedicated to excellence and positive change,” the VC stated.
The highlights of the ceremony were the administration of the matriculation oath and the signing of the particular register that conferred on them as bonafide students of the University.
