The maiden meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) commences today in Birnin Kebbi.
All CWC members from across the country arrived for the meeting.
Ahead of the meeting, the members took time out to tour some key accomplishments of Governor Nasir Idris, led by the Commissioner of Information and Culture Yakubu Ahmed BK.
The two key projects they visited were received and conducted round by the Permanent Secretary and Director Civil of the Ministry of Works Saadu Sakaba and Sahabi Mohammed Tilli.
At both the state Secretariat Complex and the Central Motor Park, the visitors were briefed on the embarrassing dearth of critical infrastructure that the state had suffered from in the last three decades and the resolve by the Governor to turn things around for the state to catch up with other states.
President of the NUJ Alhassan Yahaya, who led other officers on the tour, commended the Governor for the courage and steadfastness with which he assumed office and for the unprecedented achievements recorded.
He assured of the support of the Union in publicizing the activities of the state government in a partnership that will promote good governance.
The team was also at the Birnin Kebbi rice fields along the Rima River, where they were shown the potential that the state has to become the rice hub of the country.
The meeting ends tomorrow.
