Etsu Nupe tasks parents on proper upbringing of Children

A first-class traditional ruler in Niger state Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe, has called on parents to ensure the proper upbringing of their children.

Etsu Nupe, who is also the Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, made the call on Sunday in Busu at the naming ceremony of the twin baby boys of Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu, Jakada Labarin Nupe, Zonal Manager of the News Agency of Nigeria.

The twins were named after the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and Gen Mohammed Ibrahim-Gana, retired Danmagayaki Nupe.

Etsu Nupe said that children were special gifts from God and should be brought up in a godly manner as such children would contribute positively to the development of society.

The Royal Father, who was represented by Jakada Etsu Nupe, Baba Alhaji-Yahaya, prayed for God’s protection, blessings, and good health for the newborn baby twins and the entire family.

Alhaji Abubakar also called on parents and guardians to educate their children for self-development and nation-building.

Etsu Nupe said that the importance of education to societal development cannot be overemphasized, stressing the need for parents to see education as the best legacy they could leave for their children.

”I urge you to send your children to school as it is a legacy to liberate our children in the future,” he said.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Doko, Alhaji Ibrahim Liman-Doko has advised people to imbibe the act of praying as the best instrument to seek God’s guidance and protection.

Liman-Doko said with fervent prayers, there will be peace and development in the country.

He noted that prayer is key to success, hence the need for Nigerians to continue to pray for God’s intervention to overcome the challenges facing the nation.
