Ogun: Group raises alarm over clandestine move to disrupt presentation of certificate of return to Gov Dapo Abiodun

….calls on security agencies to thwart plan

A socio-political group in Ogun State, Gateway Tower, has raised alarm over what he called secret mobilization of some street urchins and other unscrupulous elements by opposition leaders to disrupt the event where certificate of return will be presented to Governor Dapo Abiodun, for second term in office, as the winner of the March 18th governorship election in the State.

The group, while berating the secret move noted that the notion behind the proposed action was to discredit the exercise and cause palpable tension in the State out of anger of loosing election.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Saka Ajiroba, the copy which was made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the State capital on Wednesday.

According to the statement, those behind the nefarious activities were both planning a total stampede at the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, through massive protest and display of placards with obscene inscriptions, as well as overt violent reaction.

The group then called on security agencies in the State to quickly rise up to the occasion and guide against such reactionary move of the opposition, which is capable of heating up the polity
unnecessarily and cause panic among the populace.

” We are urgently calling on all the heads of security agencies in Ogun State to swiftly move and stop some enemies of the State who are fanning the embers of crisis and pandemonium, having lost ignominiously in a free and fear election.

“We must clearly say that the satanic move of creating tension in the State because the people rejected them at the poll is unacceptable and undemocratic; this must not be allowed to happen under any guise.

“Democracy is a concept of choice, since the people have made their choice, anti-democratic forces must not be allowed to cause unnecessary tension and threaten the relative peace we have been enjoying in the state since the inception of this present administration in 2019”, the statement read.
