Insecurity plague in Uromi community, Edo State

The rampant occurrence of kidnapping and terror has led to the forced relocation of an Edo man from Nigeria to the United Kingdom.
The family of Idemudia, consisting of Idemudia Osemudiamen Odion, his wife Idemudia Philomena, and their two children, were victims of a kidnapping spree.
In 2022, Idemudia Osemudiamen Odion was kidnapped and held for ransom. Despite paying ₦10,000,000, the kidnappers continued to threaten their family, forcing him to flee to the UK in January 2023.
Mr. Osemudiamen odion Idemudia families became a target to the kidnappers because of his constant support to the security agencies in the locality to tackle the rampant occurrence of kidnapping within the local government.
Ever since Idemudia Osemudiamen Odion fled to the UK, his wife and the two children have been receiving repeated death threatening messages from the kidnappers that led the family to relocate out of their house to the city. Yet the kidnappers’ threats persisted even after they relocated to capital city.
The kidnappers have succeeded in tearing the family apart. His wife and children are moving from one place to another for fear of the unknown.
Despite efforts by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to address the issue, kidnappings continue to plague the state.
