Subsidized food program launches in Niger state

Niger State Government has launched a food subsidy program in Katcha Local Government of the state in its efforts to reduce the hardship faced by the people across the state.
The program, which was flagged off by the Chairman of Katcha Local Government, Hon. Zubairu Muhammad Essa, aims to slash the prices of grains in the market by 50%.
Hon. Essa, while appreciating the state governor, Muhammad Umaru Bago, for initiating the program, however, urged the people of the Local Government to pray for the governor’s sustainable tenure.
He also advised the beneficiaries of the program not to take the subsidized food items for granted and warned that anyone caught selling the items would be dealt with severely.
The flag-off ceremony, which took place in Badeggi Ward, was attended by dignitaries, including the former House of Representatives member and SSA on Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Abdul Malik CheChe
Others are the members of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulmalik Yakubu, Damau, DG Major Badeggi security personnel, village heads, Ulamas, Christian representatives, NUT, ALGON, and youth leaders.
The food subsidy program is expected to bring relief to the people of Katcha Local Government and reduce the hardship caused by the high prices of food items in the market.
