Imo set for economic rejuvenation, agricultural revolution, infrastructure sustainability –Ex-Deputy Gov

As the race for who will occupy Imo Government House after Governor Hope Uzodimma’s tenure in 2027 gathers momentum, prominent groups such as Orluzurumee in Diaspora and Imo Professionals for Good Governance have thrown their weight behind former Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere. They describe him as a tested technocrat who contributed significantly to the state’s developmental trajectory in past administrations.

Buttressing his capacity, experience, and vision, Prince Madumere emphasized his focus on agriculture, economic growth, and infrastructural development through a road revolution that would position Imo as the economic hub of the Southeast.

The former deputy governor highlighted his plans for industrialization, road infrastructure, and economic sustainability. His vision, dubbed the “Journey of Grace Aimed at Making Imo Great,” is designed to place the state on a solid developmental pedestal.

According to him, his track record of stabilizing governance, fostering peace, and enhancing security through the Imo Security Network and peace accords across various communities proves his ability to lead the state effectively.

“Imo needs the Madumere Midas Touch, a leadership rooted in verifiable antecedents, proven contributions, and a sustainable development agenda,” he stated.

As political activities heighten ahead of the 2027 governorship election, Prince Madumere has strongly advocated for unity, fairness, and cohesion among stakeholders across the state’s three geopolitical zones Orlu, Okigwe, and Owerri.

He has called on politicians from Orlu and Okigwe zones who are eyeing the governorship seat to reconsider their ambitions and support an Owerri Zone candidate in the spirit of equity.

According to Madumere, this is not about sectional interest but fairness and the need for a more united Imo State where no zone feels marginalized.

Reflecting on the state’s political history since its creation in 1976, he pointed out that Orlu Zone has produced three governors, Chief Achike Udenwa (1999–2007), Senator Rochas Okorocha (2011–2019), and the incumbent, Governor Hope Uzodimma. Okigwe Zone has had two, Chief Sam Mbakwe and Chief Ikedi Ohakim. However, Owerri Zone had only a brief opportunity under Chief Evan Enwerem and Emeka Ihedioha.

“For a state that prides itself on unity and justice, this imbalance is glaring and must be addressed in 2027,” Madumere said.

He stressed that the Owerri Zone has always supported candidates from other zones and now seeks the same support in return.

“Now, we come to you not as beggars but as brothers and sisters, asking for justice and equity. It is time for the Owerri Zone to produce the next governor,” he stated.

The apex sociocultural group, Orluzurumee in Diaspora, has expressed unwavering support for Governor Uzodimma’s decision to back an Owerri Zone candidate in 2027.

According to the group, Owerri Zone boasts competent candidates with credible records in public service. Opinion polls already favor Prince Eze Madumere as the best option for the job.

“Ezeakonobi Madumere is a brand that needs no advertisement, a selfless leader who enjoys overwhelming acceptance across the three senatorial districts,” the group stated.

Dr. Ikechukwu Okwudiri, a leader of Orluzurumee in Diaspora, described Madumere as a tested and trustworthy leader with integrity and a clear vision for Imo’s future.

He noted that supporting the Owerri Zone in 2027 is a step toward fairness, unity, and sustainable development in the state.

“This decision ultimately rests with the voters, but we are confident that Madumere’s leadership qualities, loyalty, integrity, and transparency, make him the best candidate to succeed Governor Uzodimma,” Okwudiri said.

With the 2027 elections fast approaching, Imo people now face a defining choice: to elect a leader with a proven track record in road construction, industrialization, agricultural revolution, and security.

Prince Madumere has assured that his administration will be anchored on rapid economic transformation, peace, and infrastructural development.

“The journey to make Imo great has begun,” he declared.
