Group donates N30m lab equipments for domestication of Technology Transfer to AE-FUNIA

National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has donated laboratory equipment worth Thirty million naira (N30.000,000.00) to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo AE-FUNIA.
The lab equipments geared at regulating the inflow of technology in the country and also to facilitate the domestication of the technology transfer was unveil by Director General of NOTAP Dr. Danazumi M. Ibrahim, yesterday during the commissioning of the IPPTO at AE-FUNIA.

The DG represented by Mrs. Idereyin Imiyolo, noted that the laboratory will promote the development of locally motivated technologies to encourage development and utilitisation of indigenous technologies through registration of technology transfer agreement upon realising the low knowledge of IPTTO among researchers in the tertiary institutions.

Imiyolo however, maintained that IPTTO operation will cover several gaps within the system including the limited interactions between the research Community and industry. 

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo AE-FUNIA Prof. Sunday Elom, commended the Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, for supporting the colloboration between the university and National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP).

According to him, the partnership gave birth to the establishment of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPPTO) in the institution.

He assured that the office will guide lecturers, researchers and other innovators within and outside the southeast zone on issues of copyright and patents as regards their research and innovative ideas in seamless manner.

Prof Elom however, vowed to promote production driven research, geared towards providing solutions to the array of problems confronting the society by investing on relevant human and material resources as well as the needed infrastructure.

Highlights of the event was lectures on intellectual property and intellectual property rights, imperative of intellectual property policy in the 21st Century by Mr. Smart Tuedor
