Members of the Delta Community in Nasarawa State, under the umbrella body of Delta Peoples Forum, have described the demised of Chief Edwin Clark as unfortunate and a big blow to the Niger Delta and, by extension Nigeria as a whole.

President of Delta Peoples Forum in the State, Uncle Sam Omugbe Odiete, made the feelings of members of the Association known during the Association’s Monthly Meeting in Lafia, the State Capital.

Odiete explained that the late Chief Edwin Clark, before his death, was the leader of the Niger Delta Elders Forum, a philanthropist who founded the Edwin Clark Foundation, as well as the first to establish a private University in the Riverine area of Delta State.

According to him, the late Statesman has contributed greatly towards the development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria in general.

Odiete, who pointed out that a vacuum has been created in the South-South region of the Country following the demise of the elder statesman, said he passed on at a time when his words of wisdom and advice are most needed towards the unity and growth of our dear Nation.

He called on the people of the Niger Delta region to use this period of our sorrow to foster unity and oneness to enhance the development of the region.

Members of the Association during the meeting observed a minute silence in honor of the late elder statesman.
