Police arrest 2 for killing motorcyclist in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have arrested two suspected armed robbers for allegedly killing a 25-year-old motorcycle rider, Yusuf Buhari, and made away with his bike 

The suspects are Ismail Hammed and Osoba Yakubu.

They were arrested following a complaint lodged at Sango divisional headquarters by one Buhari Saliu, that his son left home with his motorcycle but was later found dead 

Saliu explained to the police that his son’ dead body was discovered in an uncompleted building at Araromi Village via Ilogbo town, and his motorcycle was nowhere to be found.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday

Oyeyemi said that upon the report the DPO Sango Ota division, SP Saleh Dahiru detailed his detectives to the scene where the corpse was evacuated and handed over to the family who insisted on burying him according to their religious belief.

The Police PRO said that the DPO determined to unravel the mystery behind the gruesome death of the victim, embarked on technical and intelligent investigation with his men.

He said that the police with the help of community vigilante and Social Orientation Safety Corps (So-Safe) succeeded in arresting one of the suspects, Hammed, with the motorcycle of the victim.

“His arrest led to the apprehension of his accomplice Osoba Yakubu. They have confessed to the commission of the crime and are helping the police in their investigation.” Oyeyemi said 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation
