The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Muhammad Bulama, has commended the Kebbi State Government for its remarkable investments in security, education, healthcare, and agriculture, while appealing to Governor Nasir Idris to support the revival of Radio Nigeria Kaduna Station.

In a statement by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser (SA) Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Bulama made the appeal when the Kebbi State Media Team, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, paid him a courtesy visit at the FRCN Headquarters in Abuja.

Describing the visit as a homecoming, he noted the long-standing cordial relationship between FRCN and the Kebbi State Government and reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the state.

He assured the delegation of FRCN’s readiness to project Kebbi State’s developmental achievements to Nigerians and the international community through its extensive network of nearly 50 radio stations and digital platforms.

The FRCN Director-General praised Governor Nasir Idris for the visible transformation taking place across Kebbi State, particularly in the areas of agriculture, education, healthcare, and security.

He observed that the governor’s performance had continued to attract widespread public attention, stressing that FRCN, as Nigeria’s public broadcaster, has a responsibility to inform citizens about meaningful developmental initiatives across the country.

Dr. Bulama recalled his first visit to Kebbi shortly after the state’s creation, noting that infrastructure at the time was limited. He expressed delight at the remarkable progress achieved under the present administration, describing Kebbi as one of Nigeria’s most resource-endowed states with enormous potential to contribute significantly to the nation’s socio-economic development.

He appealed to Governor Idris to support the revitalisation of Radio Nigeria Kaduna’s medium-wave and shortwave transmission services, as well as the strengthening of Equity FM, Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, radio remains the most effective medium of communication, particularly in rural communities. He added that stronger collaboration between the Kebbi State Government and FRCN would enhance public enlightenment, strengthen communication between government and citizens, and promote peace, security, and development across the North-West.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, appreciated FRCN for its consistent support to Kebbi State through objective reporting and professional coverage of government activities.

He described Dr. Bulama as a longstanding friend of Kebbi State and commended the corporation’s contributions to national development.

The commissioner explained that the media engagement was aimed at consolidating existing partnerships with major media organisations to effectively showcase the unprecedented achievements of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.

He noted that the governor had transformed Kebbi State through massive investments in road construction, healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, security, and other critical infrastructure, thereby changing the state’s development narrative.

Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi reaffirmed the Kebbi State Government’s commitment to sustaining productive partnerships with FRCN and other media organisations in promoting good governance. He also assured that Governor Nasir Idris would continue to support initiatives that strengthen effective communication and public service broadcasting for the benefit of the people.
