The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley, for his alleged involvement in the death of his biological father, Adone Peter, aged 65 years.
The tragic incident, according to a statement by the Spokesman for the Ondo Command, Abayomi Jimoh, said the sad incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State on May 28, 2026.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that on 28th May, 2026, the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation which escalated into a physical assault. During the confrontation, the deceased reportedly sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head. He was immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention. Sadly, despite efforts by medical personnel, the attending doctor confirmed him dead while receiving treatment.
“Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by one Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, detectives promptly commenced an investigation into the matter. Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.
“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough, discreet, and comprehensive investigation.
“The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that any person found culpable of criminal offences is made to face the full weight of the law.
“The Commissioner further urged members of the public to shun violence in all its forms and embrace peaceful and lawful means of resolving disputes, irrespective of the circumstances. He emphasized that disagreements, whether within families or communities, should never degenerate into acts of violence capable of resulting in injury or loss of life.
“The Command also encourages residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security-conscious, while promptly reporting suspicious activities, threats to public safety, or criminal acts to the nearest police station or other appropriate security agencies.
In a related development, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has dismissed rumours circulating in some parts of the state alleging the presence of bandits, describing the information as false and misleading.
The command stated that there is no confirmed case of bandit invasion or occupation in any part of Ondo State, as speculated in the rumours making the rounds.
However, the Commander of Ondo Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has directed all Area Commanders, the Coordinators, and Heads of tactical units to continue their 24/7 special patrols across the 18 Local Governments of the State, particularly around schools, Churches, public facilities, critical national assets, and other strategic locations to prevent and combat any kind of criminal activities.
“The agency urged residents not to panic or spread unverified information capable of creating fear and unnecessary tension among the populace.
“The information being circulated regarding the presence of bandits in the Akure metropolis is false. We advise members of the public to disregard such reports and refrain from spreading unverified information,” the statement noted.
“Citizens are encouraged to continue their lawful daily activities and business engagements without fear, while also remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.
