The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Mera, of Kebbi State, has joined other distinguished personalities at the Nigeria Peace Summit held at the House of Lords, Westminster, in England.
The Peace Summit, which took place between April 26 and April 29, 2026, brought together top-level Nigerian Muslim and Christian leaders.
In a Press Statement issued by the Secretary of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Sheahu Kuwa, and made available to Journalists in Birnin-Kebbi, adding that the Peace Summit was convened by the Global Peace Forum.
It was also attended by members of the House of Lords, members of the House of Commons, the immediate past Archbishop of Canterbury, Shaykh Abdallah bin Bayyah, the Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy and Human Rights, the UK Minister of State for International Development and Africa, and virtually by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Oluremi Tinubu.
The summit discussed security issues in Nigeria, alleged genocide against Christians, and how religious and community leaders can support the government to fight violent crimes and terrorism in Nigeria.
The Emir expressed sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, for the opportunity to attend and contribute to very important discussions around peace, security, and “the international image of our country at one of the highest levels of government globally.”
The traditional ruler described the summit as a unique opportunity to represent Kebbi State and interact with high-profile personalities.
