Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has sparked intense debate after issuing a blunt warning to young Nigerians, cautioning that reckless spending today could lead to suffering in old age.

In a viral social media clip, the actor painted a grim picture of life after youth, describing old age as a stage filled with health complications and financial pressure.

He warned that many young people are too focused on enjoyment without considering the long-term consequences of their lifestyle choices.

“Enjoy yourself now that you are young. Old age is full of challenges,” he said, listing potential health issues ranging from diabetes to stroke and organ failure.

According to him, the carefree lifestyle many youths embrace today could become a burden when medical bills and responsibilities begin to pile up later in life.

He stressed that while enjoyment is important, it must be balanced with preparation and financial planning.

Drawing from biblical teachings, Agu referenced Ecclesiastes 3:1, reminding listeners that life operates in seasons and that wisdom lies in understanding timing.

“Old age is best enjoyed when you prepare for it. I am not trying to scare you. I am only saying it the way it is,” he added.

He further advised young people to prioritize faith, family, and financial stability, warning that future expenses would far outweigh present-day pleasures.

“The bills you will pay in your old age will be much more expensive than what you spend in clubs,” he cautioned.
