Daredevil gunmen attacked the resident of late Mr Godwin Amadin Osariere about two days ago and shot one of the occupants, Sunday Abulu before destroying the house.

The gunmen who came looking for the family of late Mr Osariere were disappointed when they learnt that they have relocated after the miserious death of their father, Mr Godwin Amadin Osariere in October 2022.

It was further gathered that tragic death of Mr. Osariere, a prominent figure in a major opposition party in Igueben, Edo State sent shockwaves through Edo State, raising harrowing questions about the safety of those who dare to challenge political corruption.

He had been at loggerheads with several high-ranking party executives over the disbursement of funds intended for the welfare and development of his local constituents.

While others allegedly conspired to “share” these public funds among themselves, he remained a lone, defiant voice for transparency. He insisted that the money be used exclusively for its intended purpose—improving the lives of the people of Igueben.

It was learnt that Osariere’s refusal to participate in the misappropriation led to a systematic campaign of harassment.

He was initially sidelined and suspended from the party in an attempt to break his influence.

He and his family were reportedly warned that if he did not “back down” and support the executives’ plans, he would be made to regret his stance.

Shortly after being recalled from his suspension, he was invited to an “enlarged meeting” of party executives on October 21, 2022. It was at this meeting that he was allegedly served poisoned food.

The nightmare did not end with Godwin’s death, as family members harassment and intimidation also intensified.

After his death, the family relocated to another place until this latest incident, when the gunmen allegedly sent by some party big wigs attacked their Igueben resident, shooting one person, and destroyed the house.

A reliable source told our reporter that, a probe of the party executives is currently on going and some of the elements involved are jittering and they believe that late Osariere had some documents in his possession before his death that might incriminate them, and they believe the children might be in possession of these documents.. That was why the attack occurred, unfortunately, the family have left their residence after the miserious death of their father.
