The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has signed Development Agreements with Suburban Broadband Limited and Akida Hills Limited for the development of a recreational hub in the heart of Abuja. In a press release from Rabi Musa Umar the Deputy Director Press Office of the Minister over the weekend, the signing ceremony, held at the FCT Minister’s conference room, marks a significant milestone in the administration’s efforts to transform Abuja into a world-class city.

FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, described Abuja as a fast-developing city, perfect for recreation, but lamented that land speculators had slowed down the pace of development by holding onto land without developing it. He warned that it was no longer business as usual for those “hoarding and speculating government land”, and that those who had applied for land for development would be given six months to do so, or face revocation.

Representatives of the two companies, Mr. Pankaj Khandelwal of Suburban Broadband Limited and Mr. Bamisile Olukayode of Akida Hills Limited, expressed excitement about the project, which is expected to bring socioeconomic growth and create jobs in the FCT. Olukayode promised that the Jabi Lake development would be comparable to Times Square in New York and the Dubai Fountain Water Show, and would turn Abuja into a destination city.

The project is expected to be completed before the end of the year, and will place Abuja among world-class cities globally. The FCT Minister’s efforts to drive development in the capital city have been praised by the companies, who appreciate his courage in carrying out major developmental tasks.

The development is seen as a significant step towards transforming Abuja into a vibrant and attractive city, and is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.
