Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, have arrested two suspected cult members allegedly responsible for terrorizing residents in communities within the Ipokia axis over the past two months.
The suspects, identified as Rafiu Saheed, 23, and Raji Selim, 22, were apprehended late Wednesday night, December 10, 2025, during a targeted operation carried out around 11:00 p.m. in the Owotedo area of Ajegunle-Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area. A third suspect, Idowu Ganiu, 25, reportedly fled the scene before operatives could take him into custody.
Amotekun officials explained that the arrest followed several weeks of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance focused on the gang. The group is suspected to have been involved in a series of violent offenses, including kidnapping, murder, and armed attacks in parts of Ipokia.
The suspects were intercepted while riding an unregistered red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle along the Ipokia–Idiroko route. Amotekun operatives disclosed that the men were believed to be on their way to carry out another criminal mission before they were stopped.
A thorough search conducted at the point of arrest led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and other incriminating items. Among the seized exhibits were a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, an axe, and the unregistered motorcycle used by the suspects.
Security officials noted that the breakthrough is a major step toward dismantling criminal networks that have been threatening peace and safety in the border communities. They emphasized that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and other accomplices who may still be active.
The Amotekun Corps called on residents, community leaders, and parents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or strange individuals in their surroundings. The Agency stressed that strong community cooperation is essential to sustaining security gains across the state.
The two suspects have since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta. They will undergo further investigation, after which they are expected to be prosecuted alongside the recovered weapons and other exhibits.
