Sen Sampson unveils second phase of Empowerment Programme for A’Ibom South

Senator Ekong Sampson has announced plans for the second tranche of his constituency empowerment programme for Akwa Ibom South, with promises of expanded packages and increased beneficiary coverage.
This was disclosed on Tuesday during a media briefing held at Shakespeare Hall, Watbridge Hotels and suites, Uyo.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Empowerment Committee, Otuekong Barr. Ini Ikott, a former State House Member, commended the Senator’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development.
He revealed that the second phase of the programme will roll out later this year and will build on the successes recorded in the first phase.
Flanked by the Director-General of Senator Sampson’s 2023 campaign, Sir Michael Essang, and the Committee Secretary, Engr. Ben Edenseting, PhD, Ikott detailed how the first phase positively impacted over 1,000 constituents through various empowerment packages.
These included educational and business support grants, vocational training, and the distribution of vehicles to selected beneficiaries.
“The second phase promises to be even more impactful,” Ikott said, emphasizing the Senator’s commitment to broadening the programme’s reach and ensuring more constituents benefit.
In addition to the empowerment initiatives, Senator Sampson’s office has embarked on several infrastructural and social development projects across the senatorial district.
These include road construction, solar-powered water schemes, and comprehensive medical outreach services.
Ikott also highlighted the Senator’s efforts in employment facilitation, stating that about 40 indigenes of Akwa Ibom South have so far secured positions in federal agencies, parastatals, and uniformed services through his intervention.
“Senator Sampson has also championed human capacity development programmes for over 1,000 youths and women in the district, covering areas such as mining, media, information and communication technology (ICT), and tailoring,” he added.
Key achievements of Senator Ekong Sampson as outlined during the briefing include: Employment facilitation for close to 40 constituents into top agencies and uniformed services, Human capacity development training for over 1,000 indigenes in mining, media, ICT, and tailoring, Construction of roads and provision of solar-powered water facilities, Implementation of various community projects including ICT/CBT centres, staff quarters, and solar-powered streetlights
The Empowerment Committee noted that these projects reflect the Senator’s vision of sustainable development and inclusive growth for the people of Akwa Ibom South.
