President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the newly constructed Arterial Road N20 interchange bridge, also known as Wole Soyinka Way, as a “magnificent piece of engineering.” The President made this remark on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, while commissioning the interchange bridge, represented by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
In a press statement from Rabi Umaru Musa, the Assistant Director Press Office of the Minister on Wednesday, Tinubu said the interchange is a testament to the government’s commitment to progress and a beacon of collective aspiration for a more connected and prosperous Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance safety, and improve the daily lives of residents and commuters in Abuja.
The President noted that rapid urbanization has presented challenges, particularly in ensuring smooth and efficient movement of people and goods. “This interchange is a crucial answer to those challenges,” he explained, commending the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for his dynamic leadership and vision.
The FCT Minister expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support and dedication to transforming the FCT. Wike emphasized that the President’s leadership has inspired purposeful governance, accountability, and transparency in project execution. “We are not just building infrastructure, we are restoring trust in governance and delivering on the promise of a better capital city,” he concluded.
The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, briefed attendees on the project’s benefits, including improved traffic flow and connectivity for residents and commuters in various districts of Abuja.
The commissioning of the Wole Soyinka Way interchange bridge marks a significant milestone in the development of Abuja’s infrastructure, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
