Defending champions and perennial contenders, Delta State, are in an unexpected seventh place, having collected just one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal so far.

Cumulatively, athletes have won 71 medals at this stage of the festival, consisting of 23 gold, 23 silver, and 25 bronze, as the event continues to deliver thrilling performances and fierce rivalries.

In a related development, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, has urged media professionals covering the festival to refer only to the Commission’s official medals tally, warning against reliance on unofficial and potentially inaccurate figures circulating online.

Competition resumes on Wednesday with events in weightlifting, women’s badminton, squash, and more, offering additional chances for states to climb the medals table.
