Niger Tornadoes FC weekend at the more improved Ijebu Ode Dapo Dina stadium dramatically escapes the relegation zone of the NPFL beating host Sunshine Stars of Akure 2-1 in the encounter.

To Tornadoes, it posted an Incredible Away Performance to Leapfrog Out of the Red zone, as Daniel Akanbek’s Screamer Seals a Fifth Away Win Of The Season for the Ikon Allah Boys.

Niger Tornadoes secured another away win, bouncing back from a nail-biting 1-1 draw against Abia Warriors midweek.

However, the Ikon Allah Boys have shifted into reverse, navigating a treacherous path as the season winds down and games grow scarce, with tongues wagging about the team’s performance following an impressive start to the season that saw them boast one of the best away records.

A much-needed win against already-relegated Sunshine Stars was crucial for securing a lifeline for another top-flight season.

Ismaila Sarki rose to the occasion, scoring his fourth goal of the season in the 28th minute. He cleverly threaded through the Sunshine Stars’ defense to fire home a low shot, giving his team the lead.

However, the advantage was short-lived, lasting only four minutes, as Ahmadu Liman brilliantly equalized for Sunshine Stars, ending the first half at 1-1.

The second half began on a tense note, with the team keeping a close eye on results from other centers as the battle for survival intensified.

The hosts made some changes to their lineup, which further disrupted their approach to the game. However, the Tornadoes’ technical crew responded by introducing fresh players, including Sabiu Ibrahim and Daniel Akanbek, who soon made their presence felt.

Following their introduction, the visitors regained control of the game and launched a determined search for the crucial second goal.

Sabiu Ibrahim had a few scoring opportunities but couldn’t capitalize on them. Just as Daniel Akanbek made the difference, he received a pass from Ahmed Family just past the halfway line and unleashed a powerful shot from around 30 meters out.

The ball beat the Sunshine Stars goalkeeper and sailed into the net, turning out to be the winning goal.

Tornadoes Ghanaian midfielder, Daniel Akanbek, shared his excitement after his goal and the win.

“I feel so good and better, we all knew this was a crucial game and we have no option but to win, so the mindset was to come here, get the three points and go.”

“I feel very fantastic and I’m glad I helped the team to get the maximum points.”

“Tornadoes fans have been fantastic throughout the season. I want them to keep believing in us and keep supporting us, and we are not going to let them down; we will win massively to make them happy.

According to the Media team of the MINNA-based football club, Kano Pillars is up next in the last match of the league at home (ABS Kaduna).
