At a landmark induction ceremony held by the Institute of Medical Store Administrators of Nigeria (IMSAN), there was a renewed sense of purpose. The event marked not just the formal welcome of newly inducted members but also a celebration of the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes in Nigeria’s healthcare supply chain.
In his welcome address, Hon. Akinwunmi Olatunji S., the Registrar/CEO of IMSAN, commended the dedication and expertise of the new inductees. He emphasized the critical role medical store administrators play in ensuring that healthcare facilities are consistently supplied with high quality products and services. “Our members are the backbone of the healthcare supply chain,” he affirmed, highlighting how professionalism, excellence, and collaboration remain the pillars of the institute’s values.
Building on this, Dr. Exodus Kehinde Apanisile addressed the theme of the day: Empowering Medical Store Administrators for a Healthier Profession. He drew attention to the vital yet often overlooked role that these administrators perform managing complex supply chains, maintaining compliance, and facilitating the timely delivery of essential health products. “These heroes ensure the health and well-being of our communities,” he stated.
Dr. Apanisile outlined both challenges and opportunities faced by the profession. From regulatory compliance to technological adaptation, the path ahead is demanding yet rich with potential. He stressed the need to provide continuous training and development, promote collaboration across sectors, leverage technology for efficiency, and recognize outstanding performance.
Through empowerment, the benefits are clear, improved patient care, enhanced operational efficiency, and a culture of innovation that leads to better healthcare outcomes for all.
As IMSAN ushers in a new generation of professionals, both Hon. Akinwunmi and Dr. Apanisile expressed optimism about the future. With a strong commitment to ethical standards, collaboration, and continuous improvement, the institute remains at the forefront of transforming healthcare delivery in Nigeria one administrator at a time.
